Frequently Asked Questions
Hand Care
Are calluses bad?
No. Calluses are a natural response to grip-heavy training. They help protect your hands. Problems arise when they become too thick, raised, or dry, making them more likely to catch and tear.
Should I remove my calluses completely?
No. Grip Grinder is designed to maintain healthy calluses, not remove them entirely. The goal is to keep buildup flat and manageable while preserving the protection your hands need.
Why do calluses rip?
Rips happen when raised, dry calluses catch on a bar, ring, kettlebell, or climbing hold. Maintaining calluses regularly helps reduce the likelihood of painful tears.
How often should I use Grip Grinder?
Most athletes use Grip Grinder once or twice per week. Frequency depends on your training volume and how quickly your calluses build up.
How long does maintenance take?
Just a couple of minutes. Many athletes can smooth rough buildup in under two minutes.
Do you recommend hand salves or balms?
Yes! Keeping your hands hydrated is an important part of callus care. Dry, brittle skin is more prone to catching and tearing.
There are plenty of great hand balms and salves available, and most make excellent aftercare following Grip Grinder use. We don't endorse any particular brand, so experiment and find what works best for your skin and training.
And stay tuned—we might be working on developing our own soon ; )
About Grip Grinder
Is Grip Grinder safe?
Grip Grinder is designed to provide controlled callus maintenance. Unlike blades or aggressive files, it allows athletes to gradually smooth raised buildup while preserving healthy skin. We provide 2 different grinder heads and 2 power settings for complete control.
Does Grip Grinder use blades?
No. Grip Grinder uses rotating stainless steel grinder heads rather than blades. Think of it like a tiny rotating cheese grater for your hands : )
What comes in the box?
Each Grip Grinder includes:
• Grip Grinder device
• 2 grinder heads: fine and corse
• USB charging cable
• Tool cleaning brush
What's the difference between the grinder heads?
The Digger — For thick, stubborn calluses.
The Sander — For weekly maintenance and touch-ups.
How long does the battery last?
Battery life varies by use, but most athletes can go weeks between charges.
Can I replace the grinder heads?
